“It’s a tragedy,” said Ryan Koslen, associate athletic director for Cincinnati.

Kennedy-Palmore, a walk-on who had not seen the field for the Bearcats, was killed when a vehicle turned across two lanes of traffic and hit his motorcycle, according to Cincinnati Police Department Spokesperson Tiffaney Hardy.

Kennedy-Palmore was wearing a helmet and proper gear, Koslen said.

“Our football program and University has suffered another great tragedy,” Bearcats coach Tommy Tuberville said in a statement. “I’m a father first and a coach second and it’s always hard to put your thoughts into words during times like these. Chamoda was a talented non-scholarship player and a key member of our scout teams. He worked hard and earned his spot on the roster. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

A year ago Cincinnati offensive lineman Ben Flick was killed in a car accident. Two other Cincinnati players, wide receivers Mark Barr and Javon Harrison were injured in that wreck as well.

Rick Haynes, the football coach at Kennedy-Palmore’s high school Lakota East, said “he was an awesome kid.”
