I know what you’re thinking, and no, the brownface was not a tan.

Paula Deen tweets, “Lucyyyyyyy! You got a lot of esplainin’ to do. #TransformationTuesday” with a photo attached. The photo is of three individuals: and unknown fellow, Paula dressed as a red-headed Lucille Ball and her son, Bobby Dean, who is suppose to be portrayed as a Latin Desi Arnaz, painted in brownface.

The photo, which Deen also posted to her Facebook page, was from the 2011 Halloween episode of her old Food Network show, Paula’s Best Dishes, according to Yahoo. Why she chose to post the photo nearly four years later is unknown.

Question is, would you consider this racist, or nah? While I don’t see RACISM as the reasoning for Paula posting this, I am like, why. Why as a woman who has been in the news – more than once – about doing racist s**t, or being accused of racist s**t, would you post your brown-faced son? Why, Paula?

Check out the gallery for said picture.

Early 2013, Deen was in the news for using the n-word on workers of her Savannah, Ga. restaurant – a restaurant that has since been closed down. She was also accused of asking black waiters to dress-up as slaves for an event that she was planning. Something that she laughed off as a, “joke.”
