Back on November 14th, Ronda Rousey took a beating that she has never experienced as a professional fighter in the UFC. After dominating anyone who crossed her path, a reality check came in the form of a brutal left kick from Holly Holm that put Rousey down for the count. Everyone has been patiently waiting for news about a rematch and yesterday we got the word that it is going down!

On Wednesday, Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White announced July 9 as the date of Rousey’s rematch versus Holm. White confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that Holm’s first fight as UFC women’s bantamweight champion is scheduled against Rousey.

However, Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, expressed concern over Rousey’s health arguing, “She took a severe beating and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast.”

Her manager also isn’t too happy about his fighter being forced to wait to fight again when there are other contenders in the mean time. The Los Angeles Times reported that White responded to this with a sarcastic, “We’re real concerned with his opinion.”

White is no fool. He knows what he has here in the rematch and the type of excitement and money the fight will generate. Rousey better be ready this time.
