The Miami Dolphins have hired Adam Gase as their next head coach.

Gase, the former offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, becomes Miami’s fourth consecutive hire with no prior head-coaching experience, joining former Dolphins coaches Joe Philbin, Tony Sparano and Cam Cameron. He is considered a “quarterback guru,” a highly coveted trait for Miami. He worked with quarterback Jay Cutler this season and Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow in Denver in previous seasons.

The Dolphins were looking for someone who can get the best out of fourth-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill in 2016 and beyond. Tannehill was given a $96 million extension last year but has been inconsistent with a 29-35 record as a starter.

Gase becomes the Dolphins’ ninth coach since 2004.  At 37, Gase becomes the league’s youngest head coach.
