A family called 911 twice and was put on hold as their dog mauled their 3-day-old baby. The father says he was placed on hold for about 30 seconds. This is triple time for emergency call hold times. After being tired of waiting, the father hung up and drove the child to the hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, the child was declared dead.

The San Diego County coroner’s office, UCSD Thornton Hospital Emergency Department staff performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the baby “to no avail.” The death was found as death due to dog bites on head. So sad. The incident occurred after the family was watching tv with their newborn and also their dog. The baby’s mom coughed which triggered the dog to begin attacking the baby.

Officials said the 12 dispatchers were all handling other emergency’s. The father called at 7:27 p.m. and waited for an answer for 28 seconds. The second time he called at 7:28 p.m. and waited 34 seconds.

Our prayers go out to this family!
