A sad day for hip-hop as we lose a big staple in the mixtape circuit, DJ White Owl.

What a year 2016 has been. Owl passed away this morning and his cause of his death is unknown, but sources close to Owl believe that an undisclosed long-term illness may have played a part.

DJ White Owl was the head honcho during the “Mixtape Weezy” era and was also known for his over 100 part “Drop That” mixtape series featuring some of the hottest in the game including Lil Wayne, Dipset, and D-Block just to name a few. His “DJ White Owl Drop That” tag stuck out like it was nobody’s business and he was extremely passionate about his craft. Rest in peace Rob, check the gallery above to see hip-hop giving their condolences.
