Yet another life lost by the gun violence. Rest in peace to this brave, young mother.

The shooting took place at a park in the John Adams Houses in the South Bronx. Jessica White, who was just 29 years old, saw a man (wearing all black and a ski mask) with a gun pulled out. She immediately thought of her children and shielded them. That’s when a bullet hit her under her heart and killed her.

According to the police the shooting was gang related. The suspect was aiming for a group of men sitting in the park, but just like Jessica White’s mother, Gola, said

“I believe that the bullets were for them, but bullets don’t have no name, bullets don’t have no direction”

What’s really sad about this story is that this is the third time it has happened to Gola White. She had to bury two (now three) of her children who were killed in the same housing projects. Gola said this about the passing of her daughter,

“My daughter was an innocent mother sitting out here while her kids were playing in the park. Never did nothing to nobody. Just got off of work today. Just sitting out here to let the kids get a little bit of air and this is what happens.”
