As you know by now, Broncos linebacker, Brandon Marshall, took a knee last night during the singing of the national anthem prior to the game against the Panthers. He took the knee to support Colin Kaepernick and his stance over current issues in our country. As you might expect, there were plenty of fans who hated him for doing so and attempted to send him racist, ignorant messages on twitter but there was just one problem. A huge chunk of the fans were sending the tweets to the Brandon Marshall of the New York Jets, who I’m sure was very surprised when he opened up his twitter last night.

The Marshall in New York is the more high profile player of the two Brandon Marshall’s in the NFL and their twitter handles are very similar, with his being @BMarshall while the Broncos Brandon goes by @BMarshh54.

Perhaps for the first time in their careers, last night the Brandon Marshall from Denver was the higher profile player of the two and it caused fans who were thirsty to talk trash to him to not double check the twitter handle.

Numerous racist and just straight ignorant messages were sent to the wrong Marshall and it once again is an example of why these players are choosing to protest in their own way in the first place.

Check out the gallery to see some of the messages that were directed towards Brandon in Denver but were sent to Brandon in New York.
