The Minnesota Timberwolves have one to many point guards on their roster and are looking to make some deals soon. After drafting Kris Dunn to run the show for the young and talented Wolves, it made both Ricky Rubio and Tyus Jones available for trade in the right deal and Iman Shumpert may just fit perfectly in the scenario.

The Wolves are not the only team to inquire about Shumpert, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN but they are definitely one of the more interested teams, especially since the Cavs could use another point guard on their roster.

Keep an eye on Iman Shumpert. Several teams, including Minnesota, have inquired about his availability in the past few weeks and gotten the impression Cleveland is ready to talk, according to several league sources. The Cavs won’t salary-dump Shump for nothing, but given their tax situation, cutting payroll by a few million promises exponential savings.

Going from the reigning champs to a team that is still a few years away from really contending I’m sure wouldn’t feel great for Shump personally but there are plenty of other worse landing spots. The Wolves are young but they are coming strong with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins leading the way.

A third team could get involved in a possible deal to make things easier since any trade between the Cavs & Wolves would have to involve multiple players or draft picks because it wouldn’t work out with just a straight up player for player deal.

Again, the Wolves are not the only team asking for Shump and the Cavs are not the only team interested in their point guards but according to reports it makes the most sense.
