An Arizona police officer is now being investigated after a Facebook video went viral of him assaulting a woman during an arrest. The video of the officer punching a woman in her face caught the attention of the Flagstaff Police Department. They have now released a statement saying the “agency is very concerned by what is depicted in this video.”

During the first two press conferences done by the department, it seemed as though they were trying to justify the actions of the officer by saying,

“During the arrest, the female, who appears somewhat uncooperative, was struck in the face by the officer.”

The second statement switched things up a bit by saying,

“The officer has been identified as Officer Jeff Bonar. He has been placed on administrative leave. An internal affairs investigation is being initiated.”

The victim’s boyfriend, Jimmy Sedillo says that he and his girlfriend had received an eviction notice for their home the previous week. The officers who approached their home came to watch them pack up and get out. He says Bonar noticed that his girlfriend had a warrant out for her arrest. Sedillo says his two young children, ages 3 and 9, his mother, niece, and brother-in-law were all there to witness the assault. In the video, you can hear the woman saying

“You can’t arrest me until I know you have a warrant.”

After the woman resisted a bit, the officer then punches her in the face.
