Twitter exploded after a CNN segment included the headline that read “Alt-Right Founder Questions If Jews Are People.” The headline was featured on a show that included CNN host Jim Sciutto speaking on Donald Trump’s transition to the presidency, and whether the president-elect should formally denounce his supporters from the alt-right.

During the segment, they also spoke about Richard Spencer of the National Policy Institute, who was actually the man who came up with the word “alt-right” and one of the country’s “most successful white nationalist leaders, a suit-and-tie version of the white supremacists of old.” Spencer was also the man who led a whole group of white nationalists in a “Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory!” salute at a conference in Washington, D.C. over the weekend.

On the show, Sciutto read this Spencer quote about Jewish people. The quote said,

“One wonders if these people are people at all, or instead soulless golem.”

He called it, “hate filled garbage,” However, the people watching did not agree with the wording on the screen. Take a look at the Twitter responses in the gallery.
