Adrian Peterson is not the same type of human as you and I. Despite tearing his meniscus earlier this season in week two, the Minnesota Vikings running back announced today during a radio interview that he will be on the field this Sunday against the Colts.

While speaking with DJ Skee on Dashradio.com, Peterson was very matter of fact with his comment.

“I’m gonna give you the inside [scoop] .. I’m gonna go ahead and go this week. I’m getting back out there this week.”

Peterson had long said he would only comeback if the Vikings were in playoff contention and technically they still are. Currently the Vikings are the 8th seed in the NFC and two games out of the final wild card spot. With three weeks left to play however, there is plenty of time for things to happen that could lead Minnesota into the playoffs.

The majority of athletes who suffered this type of injury to their knee earlier this season would have no shot at returning with the same season. They would be even questionable for the start of next season but then again, none of those players are Peterson, who has already returned early from a devastating knee injury prior to this.

This certainly changes things for Sam Bradford and the Vikings offense who desperately need a running game to help out with the passing game not going so well lately.

Most fans will be very excited to see what Peterson can do after missing so much time and hopefully not much will have changed.
