In December, Will Smith revealed that the third installment in the Bad Boys franchise was close to shooting and a release date was announced for January 18th, 2018. Now it looks like that’s definitely not happening after the writer/director of the project just quit.

Joe Carnahan had signed on to write and direct the film, but left citing “scheduling conflicts”, while many close to the film say it’s because of creative differences. Sony even tried to push the film back an almost full year to November 18th, 2018, but it looks like that date could be in jeopardy as well. We’ll see how the saga continues, but right now Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are both pushing their 50s and 60s.
