Roc Nation Slams Rita Ora With Lawsuit

Rita Ora is being sued by Roc Nation. The label run by music mogul Jay-Z, claims back in 2008 they invested million of dollars into her career and she was required to deliver five albums. However back in December, Rita Ora filed a lawsuit against the label. The suit stated,

“Rita’s remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company.”

The label is now clapping back claiming they have already spent more than $2.3 million marketing her second album and can not get that money back. Ora’s attorney is confident the suit will get thrown out, because according to him, Jay-Z has already promised to release her from the contract. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds.

Could Rihanna Be The Reason Rita Ora Wants Out Of Roc Nation?

As we previously reported, Rita Ora has filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation on claims that she she feels the label has done nothing to help her career since signing her in 2008. It now appears that the reason Ora may feel this way is because Rihanna, who’s considered Roc Nation “royalty” is holding her back.

Rita Ora Sues To Get Out Of Roc Nation Contract

Rita Ora has filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation and its owner Jay Z, as she feels her label has done nothing to help her career since signing her at the age of 18 in 2008. In the complaint filed today, Rita says she was “orphaned” by the company when they birthed Roc Nation Sports and took on other endeavors. “Rita’s remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company,” the complaint reads. Despite her celebrity status and singles like “Body On Me” with Chris Brown, Rita has never put out an album in the United States – something she blames on her label’s doing. Since she signed in 2008, Rita is citing California’s “seven year rule” that ends personal service contracts. “Rita’s relationship with Roc Nation is irrevocably damaged,” the complaint continues. XO Rapper Belly Signs To Roc Nation

Canadian rapper Belly has been in the game for a minute now, dating back to an album titled The Revolution that he released way back in 2007. Since then, he’s worked a lot behind-the-scenes, and more recently, linked up with and forged a bond with fellow Canadian, The Weeknd. Together, the pair co-wrote six of Weeknd‘s songs – including his smash “The Hills” – and now, Belly is ready for the big leagues. His new deal with Jay Z‘s Roc Nation imprint will certainly help. “I think I just got the right ears with it to the point where Jay Z was interested and heard it and invited me over,” Belly tells Billboard. “And we had a conversation and that was that, you know? A man’s handshake, that’s all it takes sometimes.”
