Kanye West Prevented “The Life Of Pablo” Numbers From Being Released

Despite being one of the most popular projects out right now, Kanye West’s ‘The Life of Pablo‘ never made it to the Billboard Charts. Ye’ released the project exclusively on TIDAL and vowed to never release it anywhere else. The exclusive release has blocked him from ever making it to the Billboard charts, but new developments have indicate that this may be Kanye’s own doing. Read more below.

Drake Just Tied With Biggie For Most Number One Single Debuts On Billboard

Drake can’t stop collecting W’s. For his latest, the Toronto ambassador has just joined the history books, tying with the legendary Biggie Smalls as the only artists in the history of Billboard to have more than one song enter at number one in its first week. This happened this past week, as “Work” with Rihanna was sitting at the top spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and was then replaced by his new single, “Summer Sixteen.” For Big, this happened in June 1995 with “One More Chance” and “Hypnotize.” Go Drizzy! Can’t wait for Views From The 6 this April!

Wiz Khalifa Debuted At Number 6 This Week – Which Is His Lowest Debut Yet

This week, Future nabbed his third number one album in a year, as Evol debuted in the top spot with 134k units sold. He previously topped the list with his Drake collab, What A Time To Be Alive, in October, and his solo album, DS2, in August. Wiz Khalifa also debuted high, coming in at number 6 with 64k units of KHALIFA. This is his lowest debut, however, as 2014’s Blacc Hollywood debuted at number one, and both 2012’s ONIFC and 2011’s Rolling Papers debuted at number two. Elsewhere on the chart, Young Thug’s I’m Up mixtape came in at number 22 with 22k, while Majid Jordan’s self-titled debut and Boosie’s In My Feelings didn’t make the Billboard 200. Check out this week’s top 10 below!

Rihanna Debuts At #1 On Billboard, While Kevin Gates Debuts At #2!

Rihanna tops the charts today, after her first official week in stores with ANTI. As we explained last week, her Billboard “debut” didn’t really count, as it was only after a mere couple of hours available before the new chart week started. With her full 7 days, Rih clocks in with 166k – all digital, as physical copies weren’t made available until this past weekend. Also debuting big this week is Kevin Gates, whose new album Islah comes in at number two with 112k. Am I the only one who’s really shocked by this? And congrats to my JERSEY boy Charlie Puth, also debuting high at number 6 with Nine Track Mind, moving 65k. Check out this week’s full top 10 below!

Kendrick Lamar Opens Up About Meeting President Obama For The First Time

At the end of last year, Grammy nominated artist Kendrick Lamar took a trip to the White House. Following his meeting with President Obama, he shared a few photos and revealed that they covered “topics concerning the inner cities, the problem [and] the solutions.” Lamar was humbled when the POTUS revealed his favorite track of 2015 was Kendrick’s “How Much a Dollar Cost” and said he’d pick Kendrick over Drake in a rap battle. Now, in an interview with Billboard, Kendrick opened up about how he felt when meeting the president. Read more below.

Rihanna Debuted At #27 On Billboard – But There’s More To The Story!

On the Billboard charts that were released on Sunday, Rihanna debuted at number 27 – but don’t consider this a “flop.” As previously reported, Billboard is not taking into account the one million TIDAL sales (as they were purchased by Samsung and given out to fans with a promo code.) Billboard only began tracking sales once Rih released ANTI to iTunes, which happened late on Thursday night. 12am on Friday begins a new sales week, so that means this week’s results for ANTI are only a few hours worth. Next week we will see the official numbers, which are currently predicted to be around 120-130k, solidifying the number one spot. This week, ANTI moved 16k pure iTunes sales, 460 physical sales (which only comes from stores that illegally made the album available early) and more than four million streams. We’ll keep you updated on the official numbers next week!
