Auto Talk: Dreamworks will make Need for Speed film
It’s official: Need for Speed is going to be a movie, and it’s been “fast-tracked” to arrive in theaters in 2014. Paramount-owned Dreamworks had been talking to Electronic Arts about a cinematic treatment of the video game franchise, and the two were able to close a deal. The script is ready, penned by George Gatin, the brother of Real Steel screenwriter John Gatin. Funk Flex
DreamWorks Drops Eminem’s Boxing Movie
DreamWorks has backed out of Southpaw, a boxing drama staring Eminem. The movie would be Eminem’s return to the big screen after the huge success 8 Mile had, but DreamWorks has handed the movie script back over and said “No, thanks” to the project. The movie was supposed to have started production in January, but now the producers have to shop around for another company to put out the film.
