NFL: Game Over! New York Jets Fire Head Coach Rex Ryan
Rex Ryan has officially been fired by the New York Jets on Black Monday after a long 6-year tenure. The former head coach “led New York to the AFC title game twice in his first two seasons and even scored a book deal and contract extension.” However, things pretty much died down afterwards, as the Jets NEVER made it to another playoffs, ending this season with a horrible record of 4-12…yet it seems feelings are mutual, as Ryan couldn’t wait to leave NY, cleaning out his office WAY before Sunday’s game. When the Kings fired head coach Mike Malone after a better-than-expected start to the season, it was a head-scratcher to most observers who had witnessed marked improvement in Sacramento over the team’s first 24 games. They did go on to lose several games but it was due to their star player DeMarcus Cousins being out with viral meningitis. A couple of names have been thrown out as Malone’s possible replacement including George Karl and Vinny Del Negro but now it appears Mark Jackson has been added to the list.
