Drake Releases A LITTLE More Details About ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’

After simply announcing back in March that ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’ would be coming soon, Drake has slowly but surely revealed more details about the event…though we still don’t know all that much. A month after the original announcement, Drizzy revealed that it’d be going down June 13th to 15th, and now a month after THAT announcement, we have a little more information. Taking to Twitter last night with the news, Drake announced that he will kick off the 3-day event with a performance at Warehouse Live. Check out the tweet in the gallery. Hopefully we get the full itinerary soon!

Drake Announces Dates For ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’

Last month, Drake took to Instagram to reveal ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’ with no further details, adding he’d announce the dates for the event in the near future. A month later, Drizzy has delivered. H-Town will be ablaze June 13-15th, though we still don’t know with who or what they’ll be doing. With Drake involved though, you know it’s going to be crazy! The Young Money superstar will follow HAW up with his 5th annual OVO Fest in his hometown of Toronto, going down the first weekend of August. More info and tickets for that one here.

Drake Announces ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’

Drake has always had a deep appreciation for Houston, having lived there for a period of time before becoming a household name. In fact, it’s the city he met the man that would go on to give him the platform to change his life – Lil Wayne – and he pays homage to that exact day on the DJ Screw-sampled “November 18th” on So Far Gone. I mean, he even has an “H” tatted on his shoulder for the city! It’s quite the no-brainer then that Drizzy would come up with a way to celebrate his second home, taking to his Instagram to announce “Houston Appreciation Weekend” with the above image. He did not give further details, but added that he’d be announcing the dates soon. I’m sure the lineup will come soon as well, that will undoubtedly include his previous collaborator Bun B, as well as Paul Wall, Slim Thug and Trae Tha Truth. Who else do you think Drizzy will include…and do you think it will interfere with Trae’s annual ‘Trae Dae’ event?
