The longest five minutes in NFL history is finally over as the New Orleans Saints have officially hired Rob Ryan as their new defensive coordinator. Ryan stated that he would be out of work for “five minutes” when he was fired from the Dallas Cowboys and though it took a bit longer, it certainly wasn’t difficult for him to land a new spot. NFL: Saints Coach Sean Payton To Become the Highest Paid Coach Sports
The absence of head coach Sean Payton was greatly felt as the New Orleans Saints aren’t even in playoff contention following successful seasons. Payton was suspended for a year following the bounty scandal and when he returns to the sideline he’ll have a hefty salary to greet him. In fact he’ll be the highest paid coach in any sport. NFL: Sean Payton Will Be Back With Saints
Saints fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Coach Sean Payton will not be going anywhere else next season. Ever since the NFL decided his original contract with the Saints was void because of certain terminology in the contract, Saints fans and players have been wondering will he try and resign a new deal or look elsewhere. After all, he is one of the most sought after coaches in the league. But earlier today everything fell into place as he agreed to a new extension. The New York Times yesterday reported the New York Giants players believe suspended Saints coach Sean Payton has been communicating with his team. The players made it clear that they did not have any proof to back this up, and they were not trying to single out coach Payton, but rather were saying they think any coach would try it.
