Even though Lakers fans probably feel like Santa already came a couple days ago when Nash finally returned to the team, Nash himself is not sharing in the happy feelings about him being back. He is too focused on what is at hand. The Lakers should be feeling desperate according to Nash. “Hopefully, we can continue to win”. “We’ve won four in a row and we can keep this going and put ourselves back in contention, but we should be a desperate team right now.” Nash said that as his team prepares for today’s big showdown in L.A. against Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks. NBA: Pau Gasol Likely to Return to Lakers Lineup Next Week
The Lakers have struggled this season sitting at 10-14 amongst coaching changes, injuries and plain old ineptitude. This isn’t what Lakers fans or anyone had in mind when they reloaded their roster with an All-Star cast during the offseason. Point guard Steve Nash is out with a leg fracture and Pau Gasol has been sidelined with knee tendinitis. The team thought it better to rest him rather than run him into the ground while they’re missing others vital to their success. NBA: Dwight Howard Doesn’t Want Anymore Free Throw Advice
Everyone knows about Dwight Howard’s free throw woes. His free throw percentage is at a lowly 46.9% and many teams of course picked up on it and gone with the “Hack-a-Howard” route choosing to foul and send him to the line rather than allow an easy dunk or layup. NBA: Kobe Bryant Nicknames Steve Nash “Gatsby”
I’ve heard some pretty crazy comparisons and nicknames for basketball players but this one is a little odd. Kobe referred to teammate Steve Nash as Gatsby in reference to The Great Gatsby, a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and soon to be released movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio for those unfamiliar.
