A woman described as homeless fatally shot a young pastor in his church on Saturday morning and later confessed to the slaying to detectives, police said.

Jaman Iseminger, 29, was shot about 7am on Saturday at Bethel Community Church in Southport, Indianapolis and later died at a hospital, metro police Sgt. Linda Jackson said.

Lori Ann Barcroft, 46, was captured a short time later by an officer with a search dog, Jackson said.

She was booked into the Marion County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder. It wasn’t clear from jail records whether she had an attorney.

‘At this point in time detectives are not providing any additional information regarding the circumstances or motive in this incident,’ Jackson said in a news release.

The Indianapolis Star quoted Southport Police Chief Randy Ellison as saying Barcroft was homeless.

After being shot, Iseminger made it just outside the door of the church before collapsing, Ellison said.

‘A mighty man of God has fallen,’ fellow pastor Danny Carroll told the Star. He said Iseminger recently returned from an AIDS mission to South Africa.

Iseminger was married with a 2-year-old daughter.
