Usually we see LeBron and other players listening to music before a game.  Yesterday LeBron James was doing something different, reading.

Before James gave a thumbs-up performance by playing with the steely focus of a gladiator for the Miami Heat on Sunday, he sat in front of his locker to read …

The Hunger Games.

The book, published in 2008 by television writerSuzanne Collins, centers on a post-apocalyptic world in which people are pitted against one another in a last-man-standing competition.

Oh, the oft-criticized James played as if he was hungry — perhaps even famished — as he seeks his first NBA championship in nine seasons. On the brink of going down 3-1 on the road, he showed that edge and urgency the Heat needed as they drew even at 2-2 with Sunday’s 101-93 victory vs. the Indiana Pacers.

James posted playoff bests 40 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists. The other half of the dynamic duo, Dwayne Wade, added 30 points.
