It’s crazy the amount of hikes we have seen in recent years with the MTA with the level of service not rising along with the hikes. Well a video posted on the web made the city use some of our dollars to fix an on going problem with a particular station. Check out the “trippy” video that lead the city to fix a subway station after the jump.

The power of viral Internet strikes again — this time, it’s helping to create a safer New York City.

A “subway blooper reel,” featuring people tripping over one slightly taller step in a staircase, received a lot of attention on the web Wednesday after the creator shared it on Reddit.

Less than 24 hours and nearly half a million views later, the video appears to have raised more concern than entertainment. People dropped phrases like “lawsuit” in response to the uneven staircase.

New York City blog Gothamist reported Thursday that the station was taped off late last night, and quickly fixed afterward. “Crews were dispatched yesterday to make any necessary repairs,” MTA spokesperson Kevin Ortiz told Gothamist.
