Beyonce performed a medley of hits during Super Bowl XLVII, including her No. 1 smash “Crazy in Love.” Though the track features a verse from her husband, Jay-Z, the rapper decided at the last minute not to join his wife on stage in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 3.
“He wanted that to be her moment and didn’t want to take away from it,” a source close to the couple tells Us Weekly. “She had been working her ass off.”
Instead, the 43-year-old hip-hop mogul watched his wife perform from a special area with their 12-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, and other family members.
I don’t really understand why he would think that appearing on stage to do a verse or two as part of her show would take away her “moment”. Kelly and Michele from Destiny’s Child were performing on stage for a few songs even though it was billed as a “Beyonce Performance”. They didn’t seem to take away Beyonce’s spotlight at all, and neither did the other hundred people that were on or around the stage during the show. I personally don’t think having Jay-Z come out for one song would have made any difference, other than to be an extra added attraction and enhance the show even further. Just my personal opinion. However it’s good to know that it was his decision stay back stage and not be part of the show! I remember saying to my wife “Geez! She’s married to one of the most popular rappers in the country, and even recorded on some of her songs, you’d think she’d at least ask him to come out for one song or at least one verse”! That was before I knew the full story.
Beyonce was incredible! The most entertaining Halftime Show in many years.

Gotta respect Jay-Z for letting his wife have the spotlight,Yes him performing with her would have gotten a bigger roar,but it was her show and her time. I thought she did a wonderful job,even little reunion with Kelly and Michelle was awesome. Great show and much respect to Jay-Z.
