Chinese Cancer Village
Cancer has become China’s top killer over the recent years and now the country is admitting to what media outlets have been speculating, there are in fact “cancer villages.” The country has so much pollution due to the amount of chemicals used in production which in turn is causing the high cancer rates. The air and water pollution has become a severe social and health issue for many people living in China. Back in 2009, an investigative journalist figured out at least 12 “cancer villages,” and I would assume that they number has rose since then. Read more below.

A leading environmentalist in China, Ma Jun, said “The recognition of the existence of problems is the very first step and the precondition for us to really start solving these problems,” when asked about the steps China needs to take. Environmental campaigners have began to outline a plan that would halt the use of the dangerous, toxic chemicals.
