Kobe Bryant

Lakers fans know Kobe Bryant’s time with the team is slowly coming to an end.  In fact when he tore his achilles many thought that seriously sped up the coming of the end.  Bryant himself even referred to his return as the “The Last Chapter” which sounded a lot like Phil Jackson’s “The Last Stand” quote he gave when he decided to return for his final season with the Lakers in 2010-11.  Well it turns out that Kobe plans to stick around a little longer and that illustrious sixth ring isn’t the only thing he’s after.  Read more after the jump.

Bryant wants to be “back next season with a vengeance,” the source said. And he wants “two more cracks at it to win seven NBA titles at least.”

Next season is Bryant’s final year under contract.  The Lakers have of course indicated that they want to commence extension talks but the achilles injury made things slightly difficult.  The Lakers also can’t bring Bryant back at his current $30 million salary due to cap issues but I’m sure both sides want him to retire a Laker and can come to an extension agreement.
Bryant is still in the early stages of recovery from his injury, but he is determined to return by the start of next season and be just as good as he was this season, when he averaged 27.3 points on 46.3 percent shooting, 6.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds a game, all higher than his career averages, at the age of 34.
