Jay-Z

Jay-Z is releasing a new album on July 4th. Although Magna Carta Holy Grail is said to not have any singles, we know that Jay has been cleared to use a certain sample. It seems as if Courtney Love has given Hov the green light to use a classic Nirvana song. According to Love, who now owns the band’s music, Jay already used lyrics to the song before approaching her but she’s fine with that since “the business side has been taken care of.” Find out which song Jay has been cleared to use below.

Magna Carta Holy Grail might contain lyrics to the classic “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Courtney Love gave the final clearance to her friend Jay-Z saying, “I’m letting Jay-Z use lyrics – Francis would freak [if she knew this.] Jay-Z’s huge and we’re friends. I mean we’re not besties or anything.” Before adding in, “They [used it] without asking, which is kind of nervy but the business side has been taken care of so it’s fine.”
