bratton named new police commissioner by bill de blasio

Bill De Blasio has renamed William Bratton as the new police commissioner, 20 years after his first time around filling the position. He won the job over NYPD Chief of Department Philip Banks and First Deputy Commissioner Rafael Pineiro. The Mayor-elect wants to bring back old school policing mixed with new age enlightenment and promises to repair law enforcement ties with minorities. Bratton named three goals, he hopes to achieve while in office – keeping the crime rates low, working with other agencies to combat terrorism, and creating a “mutual respect and trust” between police and New Yorkers.
