IFWT_Revis (bucs) x Sherman

An ongoing debate is who’s the best cornerback in the NFL.  With the success and infamous rant by Richard Sherman, the debate grew and renewed a rivalry between he and Darrelle Revis.  Now a cornerback for the Tampa Bay Bucs, Revis was at his peak on the NY Jets right before he tore his ACL.  Once known as “Revis Island”, Jets coach Rex Ryan says Sherman can’t compare to Revis when he was at his best.

“He may very well be the best corner in the National Football League right now,” Ryan said of Sherman. “Darrelle Revis though, when I had him the first couple years when he was healthy, he did some unbelievable things, unique things. We put him on the very best receiver and played man coverage every snap, ran loaded zones away from him. I don’t think that’s ever been done in the history of the league.”

There’s no questioning that each cornerback is outstanding, but in terms of interceptions, Sherman rules. The Seahawk has 20 picks in his three-year career, while Revis has 21 in seven seasons. ProFootballFocus.com gave Revis a higher grade in 2009 than Sherman has ever received in his career. This season, in fact, PFF had Revis rated as the best cornerback in the league.
