IFWT-Mark-Cuban

The San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks are inner-state rivals who have battled for years with the former usually getting the best of the latter.  That continued this year as the Spurs defeated the Mavericks in seven games during round one of the playoffs.  With the Mavericks out, owner Mark Cuban has ironically thrown his support towards the Spurs but he has his own vested reason.

“I want San Antonio to win,” Cuban said on 105.3 The Fan’s “Ben and Skin Show” on Friday. “I want Tim Duncanto hit a game-winning shot to win Game 7, then go to the Finals, do the exact same thing, hit a game-winning shot in Game 7, run down the tunnel, never to be seen from again.

“I want him to retire on the spot. I hope he gets that last ring and it’s all the incentive he needs to retire.”

The Spurs “reign of terror” is in it’s 17th consecutive season and they could be well on their way to another Finals and possible championship after going up 2-0 over the Thunder and winning in a dominating fashion.  Duncan is under contract till the end of this season and could exercise a player option for next season.  However if things go well he could decide to hang it all up and coach Gregg Popovich will go with him.  That’s a double win for Cuban.
