Though the media pushes a rivalry between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, there’s no doubt that the two have a lot of respect for each other.  At the end of the day both of them will go down as two of the best players in basketball history.  While LeBron is continuing to rise in his career, Kobe is heading towards the end of his.  After two major injuries he’s returning to the Lakers to give that elusive sixth ring another shot.  So what does LeBron think of Kobe’s return?

Lakers and basketball fans alike obviously missed having Kobe Bryant on the floor and watching him play. Apparently, his peers did as well.

Cleveland Cavaliers’ forward LeBron James told reporters he talked to Kobe Bryant before training camp began to welcome him back to the league.

“I love Kobe,” James told Dave McMenamin of EPSN Los Angeles. “I love his competitive nature. I love competing against him”

Many believe the Lakers are in for another rough season. Although they added Carlos Boozer, Jeremy Lin, Julius Randle and Ed Davis and are getting both Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash back from injury, they were just 27-55 last season and have lost Pau Gasol from that team.

LeBron James may not be familiar with the rebuilding process but he knows Kobe Bryant hates it.

“I know that he doesn’t enjoy the rebuilding phase, especially at this point in his career, but one thing about him, he’s going to give it his championship effort every night and you have to understand that when you’re competing against him,” James explained.

Of course, if Kobe Bryant can get through this season, the Lakers might be in position to make some major upgrades.
