On Monday night it was announced that the grand jury decided not to charge police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown.  The decision bought a wave of emotions through numerous people many of whom felt like Wilson unlawfully killed Brown.  Many people took to their Twitter accounts to express their feelings in the matter including Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson who compared his child abuse case to Darren Wilson in Ferguson.

Peterson is referring to his indictment in September by a grand jury in Montgomery County, Texas, on a charge of injury to a child. He pleaded no contest Nov. 4 to a reduced charge of misdemeanor reckless assault, thus avoiding jail time.  Peterson admitted to hitting his four-year old child multiple times but said he did not know what he was doing was wrong.  Peterson has been suspended for the remainder of the 2014 NFL season for his actions and can apply for reinstatement as of April 15, 2015 pending a meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell, who told Peterson he needed to show remorse for his actions.  He’s currently appealing that suspension.

There is nothing similar in the two cases and it was clearly an ill-thought out tweet on Peterson’s part.
