Kevin Durant is extremely motivated to get back on the court.  Coming off an MVP season in 2013-14, he played in just 27 games last season while battling foot injuries.  While he was healthy he knows that he’s one of the best players in the world, in fact he was beginning to draw comparisons to LeBron James.  He’s not only hungry to get back on the court; he’s also hungry to prove that he is the best player in the world.

At a recent appearance in Spain, he told a group of fans that he believes he’s still the best player in the world.

You wouldn’t expect Durant to say anything else in answer to that question. He didn’t get where he is by not being confident in his own abilities, and when he’s healthy, he has a legitimate claim to being the best basketball player in the world. I’d still give the edge to LeBron James in that discussion, but it’s not a ridiculous notion. Hopefully Durant can stay healthy this year and prove himself right.
