Julian Hernandez learned that he was a missing person that had been abducted 13 years ago. Hernandez’s guidance counselor figured it out when his social security number did not match. She then realized he was listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s database.

Bobby Hernandez, the boys father was arrested for falsifying records. He will also face charges of interfering with custody in Alabama. He can face up to 10 years in prison.

Upon hearing that her son was found, Hernandez’s mother was shocked. When the police told her that they had found her son she replied,

“Are you sure? Really?”

Julian reached out to the public asking them to please give him time alone.

“I ask that you respect my privacy and the privacy of my school, my school’s faculty, my friends, and my neighbors. At this point, I just simply want to be normal. I want to go through my day like I did before this week, just being a normal 18-year-old. I have goals that I am striving to meet so please, again, respect my request for privacy. Please, no more spotlights, no more cameras, no more reporters sneaking into my school or showing up at my house and no more microphones in my face. I just want to be left alone.”

Julian was abducted by his father in 2002. He was living with his mother by Birmingham Alabama. He was only 5 years old at the time.
