A few years ago, Prince did an interview with talk show host Travis Smiley and was asked about his song “Dreamer”‘s inception. He went on to clarify that it was inspired by American civil rights activist Dick Gregory, a social critic, writer, and entrepreneur and the chemtrails he used to see in the sky. He goes on to wonder about their cause, President Obama and leads into why he’s never voted. Was Prince on to something? Hit the jump for the interview.

Some memorable and thought provoking lyrics from “Dreamer” are:

“While the helicopter circles us, this theory’s getting’ deep, Think they’re spraying chemicals over the city while we sleep? From now on I’m staying’ awake, you can call me a dreamer too, wake up, wake up.”
