Last year Brock Allen Turner, a former member of the Stanford University swim team, was found raping an unconscious girl behind a dumpster outside of a frat party. Students passing by seen Turner assaulting the girl and stopped him. Turner who was 19-years-old at the time was arrested that night and charged with sexual assault. He was convicted by a jury on three felonies: assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated woman, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object, and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object. What a creep!

Allen Turner could have faced up to 14 years in a state prison but instead the judge sentenced him to only six months in a county jail with a period of probation. But check this out…..the reason why he got a short sentence is because the judge was concerned about what would happen to the defendant after serving all those years in prison.

“A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him. I think he will not be a danger to others.”

The judge also mentioned that Turner had no prior criminal record and was only 19 at the time, two factors that he took into consideration when making his decision. ⠀

The victim was extremely upset with the reduced sentence. In a recent interview she said⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“We cannot forgive everyone’s first sexual assault. The seriousness of rape has to be communicated clearly. We should not create a culture that suggests we learn that rape is wrong through trial and error.”

I’m convinced Allen Turner’s family paid someone off to get that six month sentence because that is crazy. The system is totally backwards. Smh. What are your thoughts? Comment below.
