Nicki’s brother Jelani is going through some serious stuff. His wife of less than a year and him are separating amidst his rape trial as he faces a felony conviction.
Jelani Maraj, 37, was arrested in New York last December after an unnamed 12-year-old girl alleged he had been raping her for months, with the last encounter happening the day before his arrest. Jelani had pleaded not guilty and has not been convicted, but the whole ordeal was still enough for his wife to separate from him. She filed for divorce on August 18 in Nassau County just 4 days before their 1 year anniversary.
The divorce is listed as “Uncontested Matrimonial” meaning both parties have agreed to divorce.
Jelani awaits a hearing this month. Prayers for that family.
