‘Tupac Shakur Day’ Declared In Oakland

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf has issued a proclamation that proclaims today, June 16, as Tupac Shakur Day. The date was chosen because June 16 is Pac’s birthday. His contributions to the community were cited as the reason, while noting that though he wasn’t from Oakland, he considered the city his home.

Lyrics From Missy Elliott, Tupac & J. Cole Will Cover Next Round Of Sprite Cans

Remember last summer when Nas, Drake, Rakim and Biggie’s lyrics appeared on Sprite cans? Well, the beverage company is running the Obey Your Verse campaign once again this summer, and this time it will feature the words of Missy Elliott, Tupac and J. Cole. “We wanted to make sure we identified artists who represented our point of view of staying true to yourself, artists who stay true to who they are and what they want to represent,” Bobby Oliver, Coca-Cola’s director of North America, said. “And we wanted a nice balance of artists that have longevity in hip hop and some with more recent appeal.”

The Game On Upcoming Tupac Biopic: “Sh*t Make That Biggie Movie Look Like A Cartoon!”

The Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me, has been controversial since its inception. The film gained and lost and re-gained directors, actors, support and more, but it’s finally complete and set to be released in November of this year. The Game is putting his stamp on the project, announcing his co-sign in a new IG video from one of the producers of the film, praising director Benny Boom and noting that All Eyez On Me “makes that Biggie movie look like a cartoon!” While I was a fan of Notorious because it was entertaining, the true-to-life components weren’t executed nearly as flawlessly as Straight Outta Compton, so I’m looking forward to seeing how this does. Check out what Game had to say below.
