People have been giving Zoe Saldana a hard time about starring in the Nina Simone biopic, ‘Nina.’ Simone’s estate even released a harsh tweet telling Saldana to keep the singers name out of her mouth forever. Founder of BET Robert L. Johnson shows his support for Saldana and the movie.


Da Band’s Sara Stokes Sues BET For Portraying Her Negatively On Reality Show

Former Making The Band star Sara Stokes tried her hand at reality television again recently, this time on Queen Latifah’s From The Bottom Up on BET. Unfortunately for Sara, she feels she was portrayed in a negative light, and now she’s suing BET Networks over it. Sara claims Latifah’s company approached her while she was in jail for domestic violence some time ago, and told her that she could appear on From The Bottom Up and make the public see her side of the story. However, when the show aired, she says they referred to her as a “man beater,” and her legal team now plans to sue BET for damaging Sara’s image for its own commercial gain.


BET Teams With American Black Film Festival For The First Annual ABFF Awards

With the lack of diversity in the Oscars (look at the above photo from their nominees brunch), the Golden Globes and more, BET Networks and the American Black Film Festival have decided to take matters into their own hands. Together, the entities have announced the ABFF Awards: A Celebration of Hollywood. “It’s clear that there’s a need for this show,” BET’s President, Stephen Hill, said. “2015 was ripe with tremendous and inspiring performances by African Americans and we are beyond thrilled to be the ones to recognize them with class and admiration.”

Last week, Clueless actress and Fox News contributor, Stacey Dash caused quite the stir after she suggested that there no longer be a BET network and Black History Month, while addressing the current Oscar boycott. Following the live broadcast of Fox and Friends Dash posted an open letter titled, “How BET Lies To Black People” further addressing her statements. Following the controversy, actress Gabrielle Union who once co-stared with Stacey Dash, was asked about her feelings on Dash’s comments. Stacey Dash Claps Back At BET In An Open Letter: “How BET Lies To Black People”

Clueless actress and Fox News contributor, Stacey Dash has been receiving a ton of backlash after she suggested that there no longer be a BET network and Black History Month, while addressing the current Oscar boycott. During a live broadcast of Fox & Friends earlier this week Dash said, “We have to make up our minds. Either we want to have segregation or integration and if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards where you’re only awarded if you’re black,” she continued, “If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.” The BET network didn’t take to kindly to her words and slammed the actress on Instagram in a hilarious post reminding her that she had a reoccurring role their hit show, The Game and she could return her checks. Now, Dash is firing back at the network in an open letter posted to her blog titled,”How BET Lies To Black People.” Read more below.

Looks like rapper French Montana is a betting man. Last night French posted a video to his Instagram hanging out with his good friend Chris Brown and Scott Disick.
