It’s A Social Experiment – Chance The Rapper Sets Aside His Solo Career For His Friends

It’s a social experiment, Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment that is. Chance The Rapper, 21-year-old Donnie, born Nico Segal, 27-year-old Nate Fox, 23-year-old Peter Conttontale (yes, like the rabbit) and Greg “Stix” Landfair Jr. compile the five-member unit on what’s to come; Surf. While we would like to think that Surf is a rap album coming from Chance, it’s not. Although he is a part of the process, the Chicagoan has decided to set aside his solo pieces of work, for the benefit of Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment – the band who began as Chance’s back-up in 2013. “Surf is a collaboration among friends of a like-mind. Giving Back: Chance The Rapper & Sway Help Raise $100,000 For Chicago’s Get Schooled Program

I love reporting stuff like this! Chance The Rapper teamed up with his brother Taylor Bennett, Sway Calloway and more, and raised $100,000 for schools in his hometown of Chicago through their Get Schooled program! The money will go towards new technology (computers, iPads, etc) to help 6 elementary schools with their digital learning programs. “The city is focused on helping students prepare for college, and The Get Schooled, Get Connected Challenge did just that,” Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel said at the event, which was held on Martin Luther King Day. Get Schooled has already helped 22,000 Chicago households with internet service since the foundation started. More info available here!
