James Harden recently agreed to a four-year, $118 million contract extension to stay with the Houston Rockets.  Though they have “The Beard”, it’s not nearly enough to contend against the firepower the Golden State Warriors have including their latest addition and Harden’s former teammate, Kevin Durant.  Harden however said he’s not worried.


NBA: 2017-18 Salary Cap to be Lower Than Expected; Warriors Might Not be Able to Keep Durant

The salary cap for this upcoming season went up to an astounding $94 million.  It was expected to be even higher for the 2017-18 season, and while it will be higher, it won’t be as high as expected.

With Kevin Durant selecting the Golden State Warriors, they had to make some changes to their roster to make room.  They began by renouncing Festus Ezeli, making him a free agent, and now as I reported before, Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut are on their way out too.

By now you already know that Kevin Durant shook up the NBA completely by joining the Golden State Warriors.  Social media is going insane with the news and players around the league have been tweeting their reactions as well.  While Dwyane Wade called it a “power move”, Andre Drummond noted they might have issues on the defensive end and Paul Pierce threw some not so subtle shade.  Check out more reactions.

Today Kevin Durant finally made his free agency decision and it was a HUGE one.  Durant agreed to a two-year, $54 million deal with the Golden State Warriors including a player option after the first season.  Durant did say it would be a basketball decision and while some championed him for getting a guaranteed ring and lauded the Warriors as completely unbeatable, others were upset with Durant for joining forces with not only a team that went 73-9 last season, but also the team that eliminated his from the NBA playoffs. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was part of the latter group and delivered the expected “Stephen A. rant.”
