All NJ Transit Services To Shut Down In Preparation For Hurricane Sandy

In preparation for Hurricane Sandy, New Jersey Transit has announced that they will suspend all services starting at 4 p.m. today. There’s no word as to how long the services will be closed, it will depend on how the storm is and how much damage is done. We’ll have more as the story develops. Julie A.


Mayor Bloomberg Issues Mandatory Evacuation Of Zone A

Mayor Mike Bloomberg has announced a mandatory evacuation of Zone A in NYC. He also announced that all public parks will be closed today after 5pm following Governor Cuomo’s announcement that MTA rail service will be suspended at 7 p.m. and bus services at 9 p.m. tonight. Zone A includes Brooklyn’s Coney Island and Manhattan Beach, Far Rockaway and Broad Channel in Queens, South Beach, Midland Beach, and other low-lying areas on Staten Island, and Manhattan’s Battery Park City. UPDATE: Governor Cuomo To Suspend MTA Service Tonight & Close Schools On Monday Due To Hurricane Sandy

Governor Cuomo has announced that he will be suspending all MTA services tonight. All rail services will be closed by 7 p.m. and all bus services will be suspended by 9 p.m. in preparation for Hurricane Sandy. New York City has already announced that it will be setting up shelter in 65 public schools for people living in low-lying areas, some people have been urged to evacuate, The New York City Police Department is also mobilizing, and schools will be closed on Monday.
