A couple years back, Kevin Durant was tweeting back and forth with his friend and the debate was about Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. KD’s boy was going with Kawhi but Durant was all for PG and mentioned that the Spurs “system” might have something to do with Kawhi’s success. Keep in mind this was a couple years ago, before Kawhi fully elevated to the All-Star status he has now. A reporter asked KD about it last night and he didn’t shy away from his claims back then but did explain in more detail.

At this point everyone is starting to wonder if the Golden State Warriors have any competition at all. We were all looking forward to the Warriors game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and they crushed them. Anticipation for the Warriors game against the San Antonio Spurs was even higher as we all assumed it would be much more competitive; well wrong again! The game was so bad the Warriors even had a 40 point lead. A major question has been HOW do you stop Stephen Curry; well he even had a Defensive Player of the Year spinning in circles so good luck trying to figure that out.

Nick Young HAD to be joking about this because if he isn’t he might seriously be crazy. Ahead of the Lakers matchup last night with the Spurs, the topic of who was a better defender came up. The options were Kawhi Leonard and Nick Young, to which Young replied “”It’s tough. He’s getting to my level.” The discussion about defensive player of the year even came up to which Young wanted to include himself as well. Kawhi Leonard is one of the best, if not THE best defensive player in the league and he would make Young look like a joke. Maybe joking is all Young was doing to begin with. For his sake, I hope so. Kawhi Leonard’s stock is going UP and everyone is taking notice. He was named the defensive player of the year for this season and is poised to become a perennial all star and one of the best overall players in the league period. The Spurs organization is one of the smarter ones in sports and according to reports they have no plans to low ball Kawhi this summer and in fact will offer him the max deal on the very first day of free agency.
