NBA Report: “Mutual Interest” Between Dwyane Wade & the Los Angeles Lakers

Dwyane Wade has played with the Miami Heat for his entire 12-year career but he could finally depart as there’s a contract standoff between the two.  Wade is set to become a free agent and reportedly wants a ton of money, more than the Heat are willing to dish out.  There’s been talk about him possibly joining his friend and old teammate LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers but now there’s another team thrown into the mix.

NBA: GM Mitch Kupchak Says Lakers “Don’t Have Time” to Build Through the Draft

The Los Angeles Lakers have the No. 2 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and have a chance to get a game changer like Karl Anthony-Towns or Jahlil Okafor but other than that, the team reportedly has no plans to continue re-building through the draft.

NBA Report: Lakers Will Pursue Head Coach Tom Thibodeau

Last year before Byron Scott was hired, a report was released that Kobe Bryant “will wish for Tom Thibodeau to free himself from Chicago” and become the head coach for the Lakers.  Well Bryant may get his wish.  The Bulls have been eliminated from the NBA playoffs and there’s talk that they will part ways with Thibodeau.

NBA: Phil Jackson Says Timberwolves Had Agreement to Trade Kevin Garnett to Lakers in 2007

The Minnesota Timberwolves trade Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in 2007.  It changed everything, making Big 3’s popular and changed the balance of power in the Eastern Conference.  The Celtics won the 2008 title immediately after acquiring Garnett and Ray Allen, and made the Finals again two years later. The Big Three of Garnett, Allen and Paul Pierce was the NBA’s defining superteam until LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh teamed up in Miami in 2010.  But Garnett was almost a Laker.

NBA Report: Lakers Preparing to Offer Jimmy Butler a Max Contract

Jimmy Butler has been working extremely hard this season; he made the All-Star game, won Most Improved Player and now that he’s due for a new contract, he’ll get the max allowed.  Butler will be a restricted free agent and the Chicago Bulls are expected to do everything in their power to keep him but he’ll certainly have other teams at his door.  So will he directly sign with the Bulls or will he sign an offer sheet somewhere else and force the Bulls to match.  Getting an offer definitely won’t be a problem.

NBA Report: Lakers Still Interested in Rajon Rondo But Only at a ‘Low Price’

There’s been a lot of talk about the Los Angeles Lakers possibly adding Rajon Rondo, especially since their star player Kobe Bryant has been heavily recruiting the point guard.  When Rondo was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, it appeared he had found a new home and would re-sign there but things fell apart quickly.  In addition to Rondo’s personal issues with the team, his production has dropped dramatically.  Before, many people expected Rondo’s next contract to be a max deal but now it seems more unlikely.  The Lakers are reportedly still interested but not for top dollar.
