IFWT Celebrates Black History Month: Honoring Muhammad Ali

To celebrate Black History Month, InFlexWeTrust will be honoring influential members of Black history daily throughout the month. Today, we are honoring Muhammad Ali. Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., on January 17, 1942. Before going on to be the boxing legend and cultural icon that he is, Ali was a philanthropist and social activist. Ali made his professional boxing debut on October 29, 1960, winning a six-round decision over Tunney Hunsaker. Between 1960-1963 he was able to have a record of 19-0 with 15 wins by knockout. The boxer joined the Nation of Islam in 1964, promoting his name change. After refusing to join the draft, Ali was arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges, he was stripped of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended until his appeal went to the Supreme Court. His most infamous matches were against his rival Joe Frazier and are still considered the greatest matches of all time. Read more about his life and contributions below.

Sports:(Update) Oscar Pistorius Granted Bail In Murder Case

This is another crazy sports story going on. Oscar Pistorius, aka Blade Runner, was granted bail early this morning in South Africa in his murder case. He has been charged with pre-meditated murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend in his home. He has claimed he thought he was shooting at an intruder, but evidence kind of points to something else. However, he was able to make a good enough case to at least be granted bail. The judge in the case set bail at 1 million rand ( which is about $113,000 in U.S. currency), and he only had to come up with $11,300 in cash, and provide proof the rest is available. He had to turn in his passports and he can not go anywhere without permission of the probation officer. This is just the beginning of this story which will lasts as long as the case does. Read more about the case after the jump.
