NBA: Despite Passing On Head Coach Job, Steve Kerr Says Knicks Are a Playoff Team

Apparently even though he turned down a job as the Knicks head coach, Steve Kerr still thinks they have potential.  In fact he thinks they have so much potential that they’ll make it to the NBA playoffs this year.

You just had to know somewhere in the background of the whole Steve Kerr fiasco, James Dolan had to be lurking right? Now it seems that may be true according to reports. People around the NBA were shocked when Kerr turned down Phil Jackson and the Knicks after thinking it was a done deal. Now there is word that Dolan never wanted him to begin with but wasn’t going to tell Phil Jackson no. Instead he just played with the years and money offered on the contract. NCAA champion head coach of UConn, Kevin Ollie is now a wanted commodity in the NBA.  Ollie is listening to offers however he reportedly isn’t willing to take a rookie head coach salary.  In fact he wants an even larger contract than first time head coach Steve Kerr got with the Golden State Warriors.

NBA: Steve Kerr Reportedly Wants 5-Year, $30 Million Contract

Despite not having any prior head coaching experience, Steve Kerr is a hot commodity around the NBA.  With the Knicks and Warriors ousting Mike Woodson and Mark Jackson, those are reportedly the two teams Kerr is deciding between.  It’s also reported that Kerr is leaning more towards the Knicks and with his asking price that’s where he’s more likely to get his wish.
