Russel Rivera Jr., 30, walked out of the Archer Road home in Parkchester Condominiums holding a knife to the boy about 3:15 p.m., cops and witnesses said.

“Drop the knife! Give us the baby!” security guards pleaded with Rivera.

“Get the f— away!” Rivera yelled.

Witnesses said the standoff didn’t last long.

“He had the baby in his arms and a big knife, a butcher’s knife,” said Edna Rivera, 62. “The baby was crying. It was pouring. The baby had no clothes on, just Pampers.”

The guards were able to grab the baby from the man’s clutches. The child was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

As cops attempted to stuff the raging Rivera in a squad car, he began yelling and kicking at the officers, witnesses said. He was eventually taken away after a brief scuffle.

Rivera was later charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

The little boy was returned to his mother hours later.
