Jason Kidd is not among those in Dallas who think Deron Williams is automatically headed back home. The 39-year-old point guard told Dallas reporters that Brooklyn, Barclays Center and Mikhail Prokhorov cannot be easily dismissed when discussing D-Will’s future. He also reiterated that he’d like to be Williams’ back up.  Read more after the jump.

“I think going to Brooklyn brings a lot of attention,” Kidd said Saturday as the Mavericks closed out their season. “The last professional team there was the Dodgers, so I think they’re going to be very excited. And then with the Russian owner [Mikhail Prokhorov], I mean, he’s not short on money so I think they’re going to go out and make a splash.”

As for him, he said he’d like a two-year deal that would take him to age 41 and plans to talk with Williams during the off-season about being his back-up. As for returning to the Mavericks, Kidd said he’d talk to Mark Cuban first, but “at the same time business comes into play. So we’ll see what happens and we’ll see what the Mavs are talking about first.”

For the most part, the Dallas media Sunday is all about the “Deron Williams vigil”. Still, Marc Stein quotes “a source well-acquainted with Williams’ thinking” as saying the Mavericks have no better than a “50-50 shot” of getting D-Will. Charles Barkley adds Williams alone won’t help the Mavericks. “If you get Deron Williams, I don’t think that will make you all contenders,” he told ESPN Radio in Dallas.
