Vick was in Henderson, Nev., this week to help kick off a youth football camp. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback stopped at a local car dealership to sign autographs and take photos with fans, but the event went south from there, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

After personnel at Findlay Toyota posted the Vick photos to the company’s Facebook page, they were slammed with angry comments labeling Vick a “dog killer.” One individual “threatened to beat (Vick) up,” according to the newspaper. Others promised to boycott Findlay Toyota for sponsoring the football camp.

The dealership quickly pulled the plug on their Facebook page.

“We’re just trying to do something right for the kids and people just forget about that,” said Stephanie Bernas, the company’s marketing manager and social media director.

Vick was convicted in 2007 of conspiracy and running a dogfighting ring. The quarterback served 18 months in prison and two months of home confinement. He’s remained out of trouble since signing with the Eagles in 2009.

“People have grown to forgive me and give me a second chance,” Vick said, but acknowledged that many never would.
