Ever since the breakdown of their marriage last year, there has been much speculation surrounding the reason behind Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s split.
Everything from the pop star’s hard-partying ways to the comedian’s desire to have children were all to blame.
But in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 27-year-old singer says only she and her ex-husband will ever know the real reason behind the breakdown.
‘Nobody knows what really happened except the two people who are in it’ she says.
In her new documentary style 3D film Katy Perry: Part Of Me, The California Gurls star’s marriage demise is touched on.
And the singer says she found it difficult to depict what went down between the couple.
Katy says she she wanted to bring ‘class and truth’ to the topic in her film.
‘Like how I write my songs, honesty has always worked for me,’ she tells The Hollywood Reporter.
‘So if it ain’t broke, why f***ing fix it?.’
Katy also revealed in the interview that during her California Dreams tour she would often breakdown in tears over her personal life between concerts.
‘There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I’m about to go up on that ramp and sing Teenage Dream,’ she explained.
Slipping into a purple cut-out body con dress, which matches her new violet-hued hair, Katy also speaks candidly about her new documentary-style film in THR interview.
The pop star who reportedly made $44 million last year, financed some the film herself, using $2m of her own hard-earned cash.
‘Trust me, I have a vision,’ she says. ‘My frugal business manager, God bless him, was sweating.’
Next on Katy’s bucket list of things to do is starting her own record label, which she reveals is currently in the process.
‘When it does come to fruition, I’m going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success,’ she explains.
Last month in an interview with Ellen, the singer also opened up to the chat show host about why she decided to show a realistic account of her life in the feature, including her relationship with Russell.
The chat show host asked Katy about the 3D documentary, saying to her, ‘of course you got married during that time and that didn’t turn out to last, is part of it still in there?’
Katy told Ellen: ‘I thought it was important to show everything in between. ‘I think sometimes people think that we’re perfect and we know we’re not perfect, at all.’
‘I think it’s important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world. So that’s why I decided to put everything into the film,’ Katy said.
‘In the most tasteful way. But mostly it’s about how I go there and the ride along the way which can be bumpy but mostly it was extremely fun.’

Some reports suggested that Katy had cut Russell from the footage, but the interview finally laid those rumours to rest.
Meanwhile the couple have been granted go ahead for a divorce but it will not be finalised until July, because California law requires a waiting period of six months.
Russell and Katy split just two months after their first wedding anniversary.
Katy was said to have been ‘blindsided’ when Russell filed for divorce just after Christmas.
The move came after the pair enjoyed separate holidays over the festivities, she in Hawaii and Russell in his native England.
